Royal Sovereign v Tower Hamlets

Author: Rory MacQueen, 12/05/13

Royal Sovereign won by one wicket

Tower Hamlets chose to bat under leaden skies and Joe Fisher's unbeaten 83 guided them to 193-3. Nick Franks (2-28) was the best of the bowlers as Sovereign managed to prevent the Tower Hamlets batsmen from ever cutting loose.

Elroy Pond (40) and David James (35) laid a good platform for the Sovereign's reply but the rest of the batting line-up failed to ignite, mainly thanks to Tanvir Hasan (4-23) and Shimu Miah (2-38).

After the middle-order collapse, Luke Browne (13*) came in to marshal the tail and, with the scores tied, one ball and one wicket remaining, the Sovereign number 11 scrambled through for a single to give them their first win of the season.
